This special project was one of four featured homes in the 2017 Crystal Lake Service League's "Building Dreams" Housewalk last weekend. With unique custom details, we are so happy that the current owners call this place "their forever home.

"A little bit Country and a little bit Clean N' Minimal" best describes our latest design inspiration: Board and Batten Siding. In opposition to other styles in the modern home landscape, the white vertical siding with black frame windows offers sleekness without the coldness of concrete and glass.

A beautifully sunny Memorial day weekend was only made better by a trip to RH Chicago- The Gallery at the Historic Three Arts Club in the Gold Coast. We sipped bellinis as we walked through the main floor's faux studies, comforting living rooms and impressive dining rooms. The bedroom exhibit on the second floor was pure luxury in the simplified Restoration Hardware way, relying on layered textural details and muted color palettes. While each light fixture and piece of furniture was perfectly placed, we were most impressed with the way that the architect used mirrors and chandelier fixtures to bounce the light from the courtyard onto every surface.
Like the rest of America, we at J. Scott Remodeling Co. are HUGE fans of HGTV's Fixer Upper. Sundays are often reserved for marathon viewings. After our family brunches on homemade brioche french toast, we fill the afternoon with small projects and a neighborhood walk while waiting to see the reveal of Chip and JoJo's latest charming, modern remodel.
Recently, the most common theme of these home renovations revolves around one word, SHIPLAP. In bathrooms as shelving, in dining rooms as white-washed backgrounds, or as our personal favorite, exterior accents!
